Silver fur shimmered on the bank of the river, the shadow behing her her own. Her black clawed silver paw flashed in, smaller than many, with black claws unsheathed. The fish jumped from the water, it's brown scales shimmering as bright as the moving green and blue eyes of the shecat that caught it. It was killed without a thought, and the Riverclan shecat tossed it behind her, where three fish were.
Icespirit squinted as the sun was reflected off the water, burning her eyes before the clouds of the overcast day covered it. It cast a shadow on the river, the forest in front and behind it, and the cat herself. Of course, Icespirit was fond of the shadows, and slightly relaxed as the air grew cooler around her. It had been hot before, pressing mosture into her sleek fur, the way it did the cats of thick and fluffy fur. It was a warm day, too hot in her mind, so she was glad to be shrouded in shadows.
Her paw flashed again, dragging another fish up from the clear, see through depths of the clean river. Again, it hadn't been clean for a while, and wouldn't be again for some time. For a week before, Starclan had cursed the river to be populted, and nasty. The Riverclan cats had barely caught any prey, and therefore, Icespirit, or known as Ice, had gone hungrey. She hadn't etan but a stolen Thunderclan rabbit, that had been dead for a day. She had dug it up, and even though it was old, it wasn't crowfood. Or so she had thought.
As the next fish joined the others, Ice's stomach retracted, and she pulled away and to the side to throw up on the formerly clean sand bank. It was as brown as the old rabbit, with a few silver hairs the color of her coat, and a maggot or two, in it. Smelling foul, she ignored the live fish as they scattered, and dunked her muzzle in the water, her mouth open. She hated the taste of vomit.
She knew she could probley stop it by going to get some herbs from Brambleberry, but if Starclan saw it fit to punish her with this sickness, then they had a right. She sighed again. What was happening in the forest? Floods and pollution were everywhere in Riverclan. It was annoying, because Starclan had sent no sigh to say why they were punishing the clan...
Icespirit shook away her thoughts. She was no leader or Medican cat. She shouldn't be worrying about what was happening in Starclan! Still, she couldn't shake the feeliong something was wrong, and that it wasn't Riverclan's fault...

A black and white she-cat was sitting in the tall grasses beside the river not too far away from Icespirit. But for some reason, the RiverClan medicine cat hadn't noticed her Clanmate. Her head was tilted to the skies and her strikingly pink nose twitched slightly. Brambleberry's eyes clouded as the cloudy sky blocked her views.
StarClan was trying to communicate something to her, but the clouds were clogging her views. Why would they do so in the day? They always chose stars to warn the Clans... Whatever StarClan was trying to tell her, she knew bad knews was being stopped on it's way there.

Icespirit picked up her fish, then trotted down the bank to the reed place, when she looked to sleep. Her mouth almost full to the point of ridiculous, she placed the fish down and stopped behind the black and white form of her medican cat. She woundered jpw long the shecat had been there, and summed, not too long. And the young cat hadn't seen her, so therefore hadn't wanted to. But Icespirit needed to say something.
"Starclan are upset, no? Something has happened, and more will come." She said simply, her words quitre and knowing, like the wisdom and pain in her eyes.
She knew it, and if any cat looked deep into the sky themselves, into their dreams, and into them selfs, they would find it. That was why she was doing what she was. She was still young, about 12 moons old. The time some warrior medican cats took up the healing angel.
"Is tweleve moons old too old to ask to be an appertice medican cat?" She asked a heartbeat later from her other question, sounding rushed, thought her gaze, which, for the first time was up, was clear.
OOC: I know, real sudden, but hey, I just reilzed it too.

Brambleberry seemed to come out of her trance, her blue eyes relighting. Nodding slightly, she addressed Icepsirit's first question.
The spotted she-cat's eyes shone brightly, complementing her pink nose greatly. "There is no age too old to learn the healing ways of a medicine cat!" She exclaimed, though keeping her voice calm, wanting the fiery warrior to admit to her if it was truely her wish to be Brambleberry's apprentice.

Icespirit nodded. "I beilved so." She replied, her voice emotionless.
No age limit...She pondered this for a second. Younger cats were easer to train, much easier. Not that she was old. There were some cats who were still apprentices at 12 moons. Many, actually. Still, a seven moon or six moon cat was better for the job, though they weren't as, well, smart, more energetic, and less likely to like the job. At least, some were. So she could take the job and learn just as well.
"Why have you not taken an apprentice, even from the warriors, at this point in time?" Icespirit asked, instead of blurting out if she could be the apprentice.

Brambleberry's eye twinkled knowingly. "Some cats are not cut out for this job. There is a willingness, a driving instinct that makes the medicine cat." She glanced at the sky once more, "I haven't seen that in any other cat. Yet I had a feeling you had that kind of spirit. But if the cat does not want to follow in the medicine cat ways" - She shrugged - "Then I cannot force them."

Icespirit was sclient, staring down at the reflection and the water. Her blue eyes shimmered greeen, then back, then in between. Her silver fur was slick and her body lean, muscles rippling over her fine, slender body. Her tail was thin, a sigh of bad health, and her eyes big and tired, stressed.
"I worked for moons to live how I do, to become who I am today." She paused, "I was taken from my clan, by my mother, then found myself here, no thought but a black she cat in my mind. I remember after a while, and I found her, and my death. She tried to kill me, and will always do so. So I worked hard to be better than her, and I'm not. I never will be. And I never fit in among the crowd of fighters."
She paused more, her voice getting strained. She squinted and looked at the sun again, which was now nearer. "So why did I become who I am when I wanted to be something else, and be helpful to my second home? You know, I'll get right to the point and say, I feel the need to heal the wonds of both spirit and flesh on the cats who have healed me the best they can, without knowing it."
That was the longest thing Icespirit had ever said, her usually speech up to on or two words, and a long spoken thing a scentance. So this was amazing, and showed she really wanted the job, even though her eyes, face and fur were emotionless. Hard and cold.

Brambleberry touched her pink nose to Icespirit's fur. Her blue eyes showed nothing but happiness and warmth for the she-cat. "I'm glad you feel that way. RiverClan needs strong warriors, whether they're fighting enemy warriors or invisible illnesses." She nodded to her, "You will be accepted by StarClan at the next half-moon. WindClan and ShadowClan also have new apprentice medicine cats, so you will not be alone." The black and white she-cat knew that Icespirit would be a great medicine cat someday, and her heart warmed at the thought of it.

Icespirit gave a tentice purr, then stood up and shook her fur off. "I'm going back to camp, okay? I'm needed for the midday patrol, and since I'm not you're appttnice yet, I need to keep my obligation."
She stood up, and just as she was about to leave, she placed her tail on Brambleberry's shoulder and said, "My mother is a good cat, but Starclan dealt her a bad hand. it's not her fault."
Then she walked away, hoping and praying she didn't say too much.

Brambleberry nodded, touching her own tail to Icespirit's shoulder. "It's alright, I understand everything." She meowed, and her eyes sparkled with a knowing only medicine cats have. The black and white she-cat turned back to the grasses and continued searching for herbs.
